Project Budgeting Mama: 30 days of eating dinner in, and on or under budget (hopefully)

November 1, 2013, started our families (or my husband and I's) latest project. We decided we would eat dinner in every day in the month of November. This is something that we normally do not do. We pick up pizza or order out Mexican normally one night a week if not two, not including weekends (which weekend meals kill our budget, because I'm off on weekends). During this little monthly project, I'll post what our weekly budget is and my menu for the week. Friday night we had an exciting night of grilled cheese for the kids and leftovers. Saturday we ate lunch out at Subway, under $12 for the family (split 2 footlongs between the 5 of us, Harper doesn't count yet as she is still breastfed) then it was leftovers again for dinner and corndogs/taquitos/rotel dip for the kids and husband. Exciting huh?
And, welcome Sunday and the great Daylight Savings Time day. After making pancakes and being somewhat lazy, we decided to head to SAM's around 1130ish. We took full advantage of the sample ladies and then started tackling the grocery list for the week.

Menu Plan for the week:

Beef Tips and Noodles (crockpot)
Lasagna with Garlic Bread
Tacos with Nachos
Parmeson Chicken with Spaghetti Noodles
Baked Chicken Breast with Mashed Potatoes
BBQ Pork Loin
Mexican Skillet

Budget: $125 for 11/3-11/10

SAM's purchase: Chicken Breasts

SAM's total: A little over $12.00

On to the greatest little store EVER - Aldi's! Now if you haven't shopped here, let me tell you, you are missing out! It's small, you need to bring your own bags, or you can be like me and purchase paper ones for $.06. They have everything from milk and eggs to different weekly special buys of bed comforters, toys, and sometimes camping gear. Check it out! My friend Melissa talked me into going, and boy I am glad she did!

Aldi's  took care of most items on my list (too many to list) and I got out of there with only 5 things left on my list to get at Wally World.

Aldi's Total: Just over $86.00

I am at a grand total of $98.00, $27 to spare of my budget and only a few things left. Maybe I might just use the spare change and get myself a ice cream cone at Micky D's.

Tonight's (Sunday) dinner was much the same as the last two nights, kids had mini cheese cresent dogs, chips and grapes, while Daddy and I ate a hodge podge of items.

3 days in and we are still on track, 27 more days to go!

Love and blessings,
Jennifer
